Grand haven

Welcome to Grand Haven, one of Michigan’s featured Beachtowns, officially named Coastal Living’s 2017 Happiest Seaside Town.

Coast Guard Festival

Each Summer for about ten days, from the last weekend in July until about the first Saturday in August, the United States Coast Guard Festival Committee in Grand Haven puts on the largest celebration in the nation dedicated to the men and women serving in our United States Coast Guard. All of the main events for the celebration are within walking distance of the Serendipity Resort. Book with us early to reserve your place.

Antique Car Show

Whether or not you are a car buff, the Cruise In Car Show is an excellent way to spend a Summer Sunday. The show takes place one block from the Serendipity Resort on the “main drag” of Grand Haven’s quaint downtown. This one of a kind show is filled with Classic, Vintage, Muscle Car, Street Rod, Tin Lizzy, Motorcycle and all of your other favorite vehicles. Stay for a couple nights and make it a fun Summer getaway.

Grand Haven Pier

The two Grand Haven lighthouses and the famous “catwalk” between them are extremely popular for a stroll, making the Grand Haven lighthouses one of the most photographed lighthouses in all of the Midwest. Established in 1839, the inner light is cylindrical and the foghouse outer light stands on a huge concrete foundation. The Serendipity Resort is located in Grand Haven’s quaint downtown, just ¾ of a mile stroll to the Grand Haven pier and lighthouses. The walk along the Grand River boardwalk to the Grand Haven lighthouses is a local ritual at sunset

Musical Fountain

The Grand Haven Musical Fountain is a synchronized water and light show accompanied with music of all varieties. Each 25-minute show features a variety of well-known music and plays daily at dusk from Memorial Day through Labor Day as well as Fridays and Saturdays in May and September. The fountain is maintained and operated through the support of the City of Grand Haven as well as generous donations by you, our valued Guest. Donations help ensure that the historic fountain is cared for and upgraded for future generations to enjoy.

Boardwalk

The boardwalk is a 3 mile round trip and runs along the harbor, which is lined with shops, restaurants, marinas and charter fishing boats. While it’s a great place for a brisk walk, there are plenty of grassy knolls and benches for idlers who prefer people and boat watching. The boardwalk continues along the Grand River and travels out to Lake Michigan, where you can walk the pier, and take photos of the lighthouse.

Lighthouse

Established in 1839, two lights on the south pier, both painted red, are connected by a lighted catwalk that also connects them to the shore and the Grand Haven Boardwalk. The inner light is cylindrical, and the foghouse outer light stands on a huge concrete foundation. People often enjoy a stroll along the boardwalk that borders the Grand River channel and the pier, making the Grand Haven lighthouses one of the most photographed lighthouses in the Midwest.

Coast Guard Ship

The United States Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw, a great lakes ice breaker, is one of the many ships to arrive in the port of Grand Haven for the annual Coast Guard Festival. The ships can be viewed in the harbor along the Grand River boardwalk and toured during the festival. The Serendipity Resort salutes the United States Coast Guard and is located six blocks to ships’ berth

Fireworks

Three times a year Grand Haven is home to some incredible fireworks. The Serendipity Resort is located just two blocks from the best viewing spot in the city. No need for a car or a reserved seat. Just walk the two blocks and put down your blanket

Regatta Night

Every Wednesday night the Grand River Sailing Club hosts its weekly sailing regatta. The sailboats are poetry in motion when the wind is up and make for incredible camera shots when the wind and water lay down. The Serendipity Resort is located just ¾ of a mile to the Grand Haven beaches where the sailing regatta happens.
